Description
The Knightsbridge SUR5LEDIEMG is a 1500mm suspended linear LED fitting delivering 55W and 4800lm through a combination of direct and indirect light distribution. The integrated SMD LED module sends 75% of its output downward through an opal polypropylene diffuser and 25% upward onto the ceiling, reducing harsh shadows and softening the overall ambient contrast in the room. A built-in emergency function powered by a lithium battery provides 170lm of maintained, non-maintained or switched emergency lighting during mains failure.
Designed for commercial, educational and retail installations requiring both functional task lighting and emergency safety compliance, the fitting mounts via suspension wires included in the box. Push-fit terminals speed up the wiring process on multi-fitting installations. The 4000K cool white colour temperature suits office environments, classrooms, meeting rooms and retail spaces where daylight-neutral task lighting is preferred over warm tones.
The pressed steel and polypropylene housing is finished in grey, a neutral tone that recedes visually against white ceilings and pairs comfortably with both warm and cool interior palettes. At 200mm wide and 45mm deep, the profile sits lower than traditional T8 fluorescent battens of equivalent length, making it suitable for installations where ceiling height is limited but a linear presence is needed. The 110-degree beam angle provides wide coverage across desks, workbenches and circulation routes without hotspots.
The LED module is rated for 50,000 hours to L70B50 (the point at which 50% of a batch will still produce at least 70% of initial lumens), translating to approximately 11 years of continuous operation or 20+ years under typical commercial use patterns. The 5-year warranty covers the fitting and LED module but excludes the emergency battery, which has a shorter service life and is user-replaceable.

Frequently Asked
What emergency modes does the fitting support?
The integrated emergency function can be configured as maintained (emergency light on at all times), non-maintained (emergency light only activates on mains failure), or switched (emergency light controlled by external switch in normal operation, activates on mains failure). Configuration is set during installation via a selector switch on the emergency module.
What is the emergency battery life expectancy?
The lithium battery typically lasts 3-4 years under normal conditions before requiring replacement. The battery is user-replaceable and is not covered by the 5-year warranty on the LED module and housing. Battery replacement does not require an electrician — the module is accessible from below once the diffuser is removed.
Can this fitting be installed in bathrooms or outdoor canopies?
No. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations only. For bathrooms, wet rooms or covered outdoor areas, an IP44 or IP65 rated fitting is required.
What is the split between direct and indirect light?
The fitting distributes 75% of its light output downward through the opal diffuser (direct) and 25% upward onto the ceiling (indirect). This ratio reduces glare and harsh shadows compared to fully direct fittings, making the overall lighting feel softer and more ambient.
