Description
The Knightsbridge 14W LED emergency bulkhead provides selectable colour temperature output across 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white and 5700K cool white via a switchable CCT setting on the driver. A lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery provides three hours of emergency backup at 170 lumens, operating in maintained, non-maintained or switched emergency modes depending on installation wiring. DALI dimming protocol is supported via the integrated driver, allowing luminaire output to be controlled from a compatible DALI system.
Designed for corridors, stairwells, commercial foyers, industrial loading bays and outdoor canopies requiring both routine illumination and emergency egress lighting, the bulkhead mounts to wall or ceiling surfaces using a hinged gear tray that pivots down for wiring access. The push-fit terminal block removes the need for screwdriver connections during installation. The 315mm diameter polycarbonate body with opal diffuser provides 115° beam angle coverage, and the IP65 rating allows use in wet or dusty environments including car park canopies and external loading areas.
The polycarbonate construction and opal diffuser distribute light evenly without visible LED hotspots, delivering between 1,230 and 1,410 lumens depending on the CCT setting selected (3000K produces 1,230lm, 4000K produces 1,410lm, 5700K produces 1,375lm). The luminaire projects 74mm from the mounting surface and the hinged gear tray allows lamp driver and battery access without removing the entire fitting from the wall or ceiling. Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required. The LED array is rated for 50,000 hours L70B50 lifespan, with a 5-year warranty covering the luminaire (battery excluded from warranty).

Frequently Asked
How is the colour temperature selected?
The CCT is set via a switch on the LED driver, accessible through the hinged gear tray. The three options are 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white and 5700K cool white. The setting is fixed during installation and cannot be changed by the end user without reopening the gear tray.
What emergency modes does it support?
The bulkhead can be wired for maintained (light on continuously, switches to battery on power failure), non-maintained (light off normally, comes on only during power failure), or switched maintained (controlled by a wall switch in normal operation, switches to battery on power failure). The mode depends on how the electrician wires the luminaire during installation.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for external canopies, loading bays, car park soffits and other sheltered outdoor applications. It should not be used in locations where it will be submerged or subject to high-pressure hosing.
How long does the emergency battery last?
The LiFePO4 battery provides three hours of emergency light at 170 lumens when mains power is lost. Battery lifespan depends on the number of discharge cycles and ambient temperature, but lithium iron phosphate chemistry typically offers longer service life than nickel-cadmium alternatives. The battery is excluded from the 5-year luminaire warranty.
