Description
The Knightsbridge EMEXITLBK is a 230V LED emergency exit sign with a white Arrow Up legend on a green background behind a clear polycarbonate cover, housed in a black polycarbonate body. The sign operates in either maintained mode (illuminated continuously) or non-maintained mode (illuminated only during mains failure), selectable on installation. A built-in LiFePO4 battery provides three hours of emergency illumination at 90 lumens when mains power is lost.
Designed for commercial buildings, offices, schools, hotels and retail premises, the sign can be mounted on walls or ceilings using the integrated hanger bracket and hinge system. The 310mm width and 230mm height meet standard emergency exit sign visibility requirements for corridors, stairwells, lobbies and near final exit doors. The IP20 rating restricts installation to dry indoor locations away from direct water exposure.
The polycarbonate construction resists impact better than acrylic alternatives while keeping the weight low for secure fixing to plasterboard and masonry surfaces. The black finish blends into darker ceiling grids and walls without standing out in normal lighting conditions, while the high-contrast green and white legend remains clearly visible under emergency illumination. The 4W LED draws minimal power during maintained operation and the LiFePO4 battery chemistry offers better charge retention and cycle life than older NiCd emergency lighting batteries.

Frequently Asked
What is the difference between maintained and non-maintained mode?
Maintained mode keeps the sign illuminated continuously whenever mains power is present, switching to battery during a power cut. Non-maintained mode keeps the sign off during normal mains operation and only illuminates when mains power fails. The mode is selectable during installation by the electrician.
How long does the battery last during a power cut?
The LiFePO4 battery provides three hours of emergency illumination at 90 lumens when fully charged. The battery recharges automatically when mains power is restored.
Can this be mounted on a ceiling?
Yes. The integrated hanger bracket and hinge system allow the sign to be fixed to walls or ceilings. The Arrow Up legend orientation suits ceiling mounting where the exit direction is forward and upward from the viewer's position.
What is the IP rating and where can it be installed?
The sign carries an IP20 rating, meaning it is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5mm but not against water ingress. It must be installed in dry indoor locations such as corridors, stairwells and lobbies, not in bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor canopies.
