Description
The Knightsbridge BT EVO is an 18W LED bulkhead with integrated emergency function, microwave occupancy sensor, and field-adjustable wattage and colour temperature settings. The fitting offers three wattage outputs (9W, 14W, 18W) and three colour temperature options (3000K, 4000K, 5700K) selectable on installation via internal switches, allowing a single stock item to serve multiple lighting specifications. The microwave sensor detects occupancy through the polycarbonate diffuser and can be configured for daylight threshold control.
Designed for commercial corridors, stairwells, car parks, loading bays and external covered areas where both emergency lighting and motion-activated control are required, the BT EVO operates in maintained or non-maintained emergency modes. The LiFePO4 battery provides 120 lumens in emergency mode with an extended cycle life compared to standard NiCd cells. The IP65 rating protects against water jets and dust ingress, while the IK10 vandal resistance rating withstands impacts up to 20 joules, making it suitable for publicly accessible areas and semi-exposed outdoor installations.
The 300mm diameter polycarbonate body uses a twist-lock opal diffuser for tool-free lamp access and a hinged gear tray with push-fit terminals for simplified first-fix wiring. A slave live terminal allows the sensor to control downstream non-sensor fittings, reducing the number of sensor units needed in a corridor or room. The white body is UV-stabilised to resist yellowing under sunlight exposure. Interchangeable clip-on bezels in matt black, chrome, and eyelid styles (grey or black) are available separately, allowing the same base unit to match different interior schemes.

Frequently Asked
How is the wattage and colour temperature adjusted?
Both settings are changed via internal switches accessed by removing the twist-lock diffuser. No rewiring is required. The wattage can be set to 9W, 14W or 18W, and the colour temperature to 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white) or 5700K (cool white). These selections are made once during installation and remain fixed thereafter.
What is the difference between maintained and non-maintained emergency modes?
In maintained mode, the LED remains on continuously when mains power is present, switching to battery power during a mains failure. In non-maintained mode, the LED only illuminates during a mains power failure, drawing from the battery. The mode is selected during installation.
How does the microwave sensor control work?
The microwave sensor detects movement through the polycarbonate body without requiring a clear lens. Detection range and sensitivity are adjustable via internal controls. The sensor can also be configured with a daylight threshold, preventing the lamp from activating when ambient light levels are sufficient. The slave live terminal allows the sensor to switch downstream non-sensor fittings on the same circuit.
Is the bulkhead suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects against water jets and dust, and the IK10 rating provides vandal resistance suitable for external covered areas such as building entrances, covered walkways and canopies. The polycarbonate body is UV-stabilised to resist yellowing. The fitting is not fully weatherproof for open-sky exposure without additional shelter.
