Description

The Knightsbridge 2W SpektroLED Evo emergency kit provides 3-hour battery backup for SpektroLED Evo fixed and tilt downlights, converting standard mains-powered LED downlights into emergency lighting fittings. The kit includes an emergency driver module with integrated rechargeable battery, a purple sensor housing with test button, and a white ceiling-mounted LED emergency module that slots into a 70mm ceiling cut-out.

Designed for commercial office, retail, hospitality and residential multi-occupancy installations where emergency lighting is required under UK Building Regulations, the kit supports both maintained (permanently lit) and non-maintained (emergency-only) operation. In maintained mode the emergency LED remains on during normal mains supply and switches to battery power during outages. In non-maintained mode the LED only illuminates when mains power fails. The purple sensor housing allows monthly function testing via a push-button without accessing the ceiling void.

The emergency driver measures 160mm long by 60mm wide by 26mm high and requires a minimum 70mm void depth above the ceiling for installation. The polycarbonate construction and IP20 rating suit dry interior environments. The emergency LED module drops into the same 70mm cut-out as the main SpektroLED Evo downlight, positioned adjacent to it rather than replacing it. The kit operates on 230V 50Hz mains supply and carries a 3-year warranty including the battery, which is longer than the standard 1-year battery warranty on many competitor emergency kits.

Frequently Asked

Does the kit include the downlight fitting?

No. The kit is the emergency conversion module only. The SpektroLED Evo downlight is purchased separately and the emergency kit is added during installation to convert it into an emergency-capable fitting.

What is the difference between maintained and non-maintained modes?

In maintained mode the emergency LED stays on during normal mains supply and switches to battery power during outages, providing continuous light. In non-maintained mode the emergency LED only illuminates when mains power fails, staying off the rest of the time. Most UK building regulations require non-maintained emergency lighting in commercial premises.

How is the kit tested monthly?

The purple sensor housing includes a push-button test facility. Press the button to simulate a mains failure and confirm the emergency LED illuminates on battery power. Monthly testing is a UK regulatory requirement for emergency lighting systems.

How long does the battery last before replacement?

The integrated battery is covered under the 3-year warranty. Battery lifespan depends on usage and environmental conditions, but typical maintenance schedules replace emergency lighting batteries every 3-4 years in commercial installations.
