Description

The PowerMaster Emergency Kit is a 3W backup power module designed to retrofit into existing LED panels, battens and downlights, providing 3 hours of emergency lighting during mains power failure. The unit converts 220-240V AC mains input to 30-300V DC output at 8-65mA, matching the operating range of most commercial LED drivers.

Built around a 3.6Ah LiFePO₄ (lithium iron phosphate) battery pack rated at 3.2V and 11.52Wh capacity, the kit holds a trickle charge during normal mains operation and switches to battery power automatically when mains voltage drops. The 3-hour duration meets UK fire safety and emergency lighting requirements for most commercial premises including offices, retail units, warehouses and communal areas in residential buildings.

The white ABS housing measures approximately 230mm long by 35mm wide by 30mm deep, allowing it to fit inside the void space of most LED panel housings or batten troughs. Input and output wiring terminates in push-fit connectors, simplifying retrofit installation without the need for crimping or soldering. The kit is non-dimmable and must be wired upstream of any dimming circuits.

LiFePO₄ chemistry offers better thermal stability and cycle life than standard lithium-ion cells, with the battery pack carrying a 2-year manufacturer warranty. The kit complies with CE marking requirements for emergency lighting equipment and is suitable for installation by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 5266 and BS EN 50172 emergency lighting standards.

Frequently Asked

What LED fittings is this compatible with?

The kit suits most LED panels, battens and downlights operating on 30-300V DC drivers with current draw between 8-65mA. Check the existing fitting's driver output voltage and current before ordering — these are usually printed on a label inside the housing or in the product specification sheet.

How long does the battery take to recharge?

After a full 3-hour discharge, the LiFePO₄ battery typically recharges to 80% capacity within 12-16 hours of mains power restoration, reaching full charge within 24 hours. The kit trickle-charges continuously during normal mains operation to maintain readiness.

Does this meet UK emergency lighting regulations?

Yes. The 3-hour duration meets the requirements of BS 5266-1 and BS EN 50172 for escape route lighting in most commercial premises. For high-risk areas or premises with extended evacuation times, consult a qualified emergency lighting designer to confirm the appropriate duration.

Can it be fitted to existing non-emergency LED panels?

Yes, provided there is sufficient void space inside the panel housing to accommodate the 230mm x 35mm x 30mm module and the panel's driver operates within the 30-300V DC, 8-65mA output range. Retrofit installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
