Description
The Knightsbridge EMRUNLT is a 6W LED emergency exit sign in a white pressed steel wall-mounted box, providing 160lm of daylight-temperature light with a 100° beam angle when mains power fails. The integrated LED and battery pack illuminate the running man and directional arrow graphic, marking escape routes in commercial, educational and institutional buildings where Building Regulations require maintained or non-maintained emergency lighting.
Designed for wall or ceiling mounting in corridors, stairwells, lobbies and communal circulation areas, the 390mm x 190mm face provides visibility from typical corridor viewing distances. The IP20 rating and Class I earthed construction suit dry indoor environments. The unit operates on 230V 50Hz mains supply, switching automatically to battery mode during power loss to maintain illumination for the duration required by BS 5266 and BS EN 60598 standards.
The white powder-coated finish on the pressed steel housing provides corrosion resistance and a neutral appearance that blends into white or light-coloured walls and ceilings without drawing attention in normal operation. The 60mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting low-profile while housing the LED, battery and charging circuitry inside the box. The daylight colour temperature of the LED gives high contrast against the green background of the running man pictogram, aiding quick identification in smoke or low-visibility conditions.

Product Specification Sheet
Frequently Asked
Is this maintained or non-maintained emergency lighting?
The specification sheet does not state whether this is a maintained (always lit) or non-maintained (only lit during mains failure) emergency fitting. Contact Knightsbridge or check the datasheet link above for the specific operating mode of this model before installation.
What battery duration does it provide?
Emergency exit signs typically provide 3 hours of battery backup to comply with BS 5266 requirements. The exact duration for this model is not listed in the specification table — refer to the product datasheet or contact Knightsbridge for confirmation.
Can it be ceiling-mounted as well as wall-mounted?
Emergency exit boxes of this style are typically dual-mount capable, with fixing points for both wall and ceiling installation. The 100° beam angle suits both orientations. Confirm mounting orientation before installation to ensure the directional arrow points correctly towards the escape route.
Does it require periodic testing?
Yes. UK Building Regulations require emergency lighting to be tested monthly (flick test) and annually (full discharge test). Some emergency fittings include self-test functionality — check the datasheet to see if this model has automatic testing or requires manual testing.
