Description

The Knightsbridge AC65270EM is a 6ft twin fluorescent batten fitting with a polycarbonate housing rated to IP65 and a 3-hour emergency backup function. The fitting accepts two 70W T8 fluorescent lamps (sold separately) and runs on a high-frequency electronic ballast that reduces flicker and improves lamp life compared to older magnetic ballasts. The grey polycarbonate body measures 1828mm long by 129mm wide with a 90mm projection from the wall or ceiling.

Designed for commercial, industrial, warehouse and outdoor installation where dust and water ingress are concerns, the IP65 rating protects the internal ballast and emergency module from high-pressure water jets and complete dust penetration. The fitting ships with brackets and 14 fixing clips for secure surface mounting onto masonry, concrete or steel substrates. The integrated emergency module provides maintained, non-maintained or switched emergency operation modes, keeping the lamps lit for three hours during mains power failure.

The prismatic polycarbonate diffuser spreads light evenly along the length of the fitting while protecting the lamps from impact. The grey finish reduces visible dirt accumulation in dusty environments and provides a neutral appearance against typical industrial ceiling and wall colours. The high-frequency ballast operates at 230V 50Hz and is rated Class I, requiring an earth connection during installation. The 3-year warranty covers the fitting and ballast but excludes the emergency battery, which has a typical service life of 3-4 years depending on discharge cycles.

What lamps does this fitting require?

The fitting takes two 70W T8 fluorescent lamps, 1828mm (6ft) long. Lamps are sold separately. Most installations use cool white (4000K) T8 lamps for commercial and industrial applications, though warm white (3000K) and daylight (6500K) options are also compatible.

How does the emergency function work?

The integrated emergency module can be configured for maintained (lamps stay on during normal and emergency operation), non-maintained (lamps only light during power failure), or switched (controlled by a switch during normal operation but illuminate automatically during power cuts) modes. The battery provides 3 hours of emergency illumination.

Is this suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. The IP65 rating protects against water jets and dust penetration, making it suitable for outdoor canopies, loading bays, car parks and covered walkways. Mount the fitting in a position where it is sheltered from direct prolonged exposure to standing water.
