Description

The Knightsbridge SUR5LEDEMG is a 1500mm LED emergency luminaire housing a 45W integrated SMD LED array that delivers 4200lm at 4000K cool white. The unit combines primary mains operation with a 3-hour emergency function powered by an internal lithium battery, providing 165lm emergency output in maintained, non-maintained or switched emergency modes. The grey pressed steel and polypropylene body measures 1500mm x 200mm x 45mm and mounts either surface-fixed to the ceiling or suspended on chains.

Designed for commercial, educational, healthcare and retail environments requiring emergency lighting compliance, the luminaire replaces older twin-tube fluorescent fittings with a modern LED alternative. The opal polypropylene diffuser spreads light at a 110° beam angle, providing even illumination across corridors, stairwells, open-plan offices and circulation areas. Push-fit loop-in/loop-out terminals speed installation when wiring multiple fittings in a run. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations.

The 45mm projection keeps the fitting low-profile on standard height ceilings, while the grey powder-coated steel body integrates into commercial ceiling schemes without drawing attention. The SMD LED array is rated for 50,000 hours to L70B50, meaning the light output remains above 70% of initial lumens for at least 50,000 operating hours under typical use. The constant current driver is non-dimmable. The luminaire carries a 5-year warranty on the fitting (battery excluded).

The SUR5LEDEMG can be wired for maintained (always lit), non-maintained (emergency only), or switched (normal switching with emergency override) operation. The lithium battery provides 3 hours of emergency lighting at 165lm output when mains power fails.

Can it be surface mounted and suspended?

Yes. The luminaire ships with fixings for surface mounting directly to the ceiling, and can also be suspended on chains if required. Both mounting methods use the same body and fixing points on the housing.

What environments is it suitable for?

The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations. It suits corridors, stairwells, offices, retail spaces, educational buildings and healthcare facilities where emergency lighting compliance is required. It is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor areas or damp environments.

How long does the LED array last?

The SMD LED array is rated for 50,000 hours to L70B50, meaning light output remains above 70% of the initial 4200lm for at least 50,000 hours of typical use. At 12 hours per day operation, that corresponds to approximately 11 years before noticeable degradation.
