Description
The Knightsbridge 9W CCT Adjustable LED Emergency Bulkhead is a 256mm diameter ceiling or wall-mounted fitting with an integrated 9W LED, switchable colour temperature, and a 3-hour maintained emergency backup. The polycarbonate body and diffuser carry an IP65 rating, making the fitting suitable for outdoor installation, bathrooms, commercial kitchens, and other environments where dust and water ingress protection is required.
Designed for commercial corridors, stairwells, multi-occupancy residential hallways, and outdoor canopies where emergency lighting is mandated, the bulkhead operates on 230V mains and automatically switches to internal battery power during a mains failure. The CCT adjustment allows the colour temperature to be set to 3000K (warm white, 665lm), 4000K (neutral white, 760lm), or 5700K (cool white, 700lm) via a switch inside the fitting, giving flexibility to match the ambient lighting scheme without needing multiple SKUs in stock.
The hinged LED gear tray simplifies installation by allowing cable access without removing the entire fitting from the mounting surface. The push-fit terminal block accepts standard twin-and-earth cabling without requiring a screwdriver for termination. The Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required. The 74mm projection keeps the profile low on ceilings, and the clean white finish integrates into commercial and residential interiors without visual interruption.

Frequently Asked
How is the colour temperature adjusted?
A switch inside the fitting allows selection between 3000K warm white (665lm), 4000K neutral white (760lm), and 5700K cool white (700lm). The switch is accessed by opening the hinged gear tray during installation, so the setting is fixed once the fitting is closed and mounted.
What does the 3-hour maintained emergency function mean?
In maintained mode the LED operates on mains power during normal use and automatically switches to the internal battery during a power cut, providing at least 3 hours of emergency illumination. The fitting remains lit at all times unless switched off at the circuit.
Can this be installed outdoors?
Yes. The IP65 rating means the fitting is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor canopies, covered walkways, car parks, and exterior building entrances. It should not be fully submerged.
Does it require an earth connection?
No. The fitting is Class II double-insulated, so only live and neutral connections are needed. The push-fit terminal block accepts standard twin-and-earth cable without requiring a screwdriver for termination.
