Description
The Knightsbridge 40W LED emergency luminaire is a 1500mm surface or suspended-mount batten with an integrated 3-hour emergency function, delivering 3010lm from an SMD LED strip behind an opal polypropylene diffuser. The grey pressed steel housing measures 145mm wide and 45mm deep, fitting standard UK commercial ceiling grids or direct surface mounting on plasterboard, concrete or metal substrates.
Designed for corridors, classrooms, offices, retail spaces and healthcare facilities where emergency lighting compliance is required, the fitting provides 4000K cool white task lighting during normal operation and switches to 165lm emergency output on mains failure. The push-fit terminals support loop-in/loop-out wiring for continuous runs, simplifying installation in linear layouts where multiple fittings are needed. The IP20 rating suits dry internal environments.
The opal diffuser spreads light across a 115-degree beam angle, reducing glare and providing even illumination along the 1500mm length. The L70B50 rating of 50,000 hours indicates the LED will maintain at least 70% of its initial output for approximately 11 years under typical 12-hour daily operation. The grey finish integrates with commercial ceiling systems, exposed services and industrial interiors without the sterile appearance of white battens.
The emergency function meets UK Building Regulations Part B requirements for emergency escape lighting, with the internal battery maintaining 165lm output for three hours during power loss. The 5-year warranty covers the fitting and LED module but excludes the emergency battery, which has a shorter service life and may require replacement after 3-4 years depending on usage.

Frequently Asked
What does the 3-hour emergency function do?
The integrated emergency battery activates automatically when mains power is lost, providing 165lm of illumination for three hours. This meets UK Building Regulations Part B requirements for emergency escape lighting in commercial premises.
Can it be surface-mounted and suspended?
Yes. The dual-mount design supports both direct surface fixing to ceilings and suspended installation from ceiling grids or suspension chains, giving flexibility for different commercial ceiling types.
How is it wired for continuous runs?
The fitting uses push-fit terminals with loop-in/loop-out capability, allowing the mains supply to be fed through from one fitting to the next along a corridor or retail aisle without needing junction boxes between each unit.
How long does the emergency battery last?
The emergency battery typically requires replacement after 3-4 years depending on the frequency of discharge cycles. The 5-year warranty on the fitting excludes the battery due to its consumable nature.
