Description

The Knightsbridge EMKIT2DA is a 230V 50W DALI dimmable LED emergency kit with a LiFePO4 battery pack, designed to provide backup illumination for LED luminaires during mains power failure. The kit outputs 9-48V DC at 75mA, supporting LED fittings up to 50W in both maintained (luminaire on continuously, switching to battery during outage) and non-maintained (luminaire off until outage) operation modes. DALI protocol integration allows the emergency kit to communicate with DALI emergency lighting control systems for testing, monitoring and compliance reporting.

Designed for commercial, retail, office and hospitality installations where emergency lighting compliance is required, the kit fits inside compatible LED downlights, panels and wall-washers. The 203 x 59 x 32mm white polycarbonate housing mounts directly into the luminaire body, with mains input, LED driver connection and test button terminals accessible via a removable cover. The LiFePO4 battery chemistry provides longer cycle life and more stable performance than traditional NiCd or NiMH emergency packs, particularly in installations subject to frequent testing cycles or high ambient temperatures.

The kit carries IP20 protection and Class II insulation, suitable for indoor dry locations. The compact form factor allows retrofitting into existing DALI-compatible LED luminaires without requiring larger ceiling voids or external battery boxes. Knightsbridge specifies this emergency kit for use with their SARA and Seren DALI downlight ranges, plus selected third-party DALI LED panels and wall-washers up to the 50W output threshold.

Frequently Asked

What is the difference between maintained and non-maintained operation?

In maintained mode the LED luminaire stays on continuously, switching to battery backup during a mains power failure. In non-maintained mode the luminaire is off during normal operation and only lights when mains power fails. The mode is configured during installation via the luminaire's control gear.

What luminaires is this kit compatible with?

The kit supports DALI-compatible LED luminaires up to 50W with a 9-48V DC operating range. Knightsbridge lists compatibility with their SARA and Seren DALI downlight ranges, plus selected third-party DALI LED panels. Check the luminaire specification sheet to confirm DALI emergency protocol support before pairing.

How is the emergency kit tested?

The kit integrates with DALI emergency lighting control systems, allowing remote testing and monitoring via DALI addressable protocols. Manual testing can be performed via the test button accessible under the removable cover. Consult the product specification sheet for full test procedures and compliance requirements.

What is the battery life and replacement cycle?

LiFePO4 battery chemistry typically provides 5-7 years of service life in commercial emergency lighting applications, longer than traditional NiCd or NiMH packs. Actual battery life depends on ambient temperature, test frequency and discharge cycles. The battery is replaceable without replacing the entire kit housing.
