Serveware and trays for laying out food and drink

Serveware and trays here pull together decorative trays and tiered buffet stands for the way you actually entertain at home. Nesting trays in sets of two carry the food and drink from kitchen to table, while multi-tier stands hold a grazing board, cakes or afternoon tea in one place. The pieces read as part of the room rather than something you tuck away after, so they sit happily on a living room table, a sideboard or the centre of a dining setting between uses.

Finishes and materials

Trays run through antique gold and aged gold, with mirrored glass tops that catch the light and reflect whatever you set on them. Buffet stands pair aged gold metalwork with white marble tiers, a harder-wearing surface that wipes clean after a long lunch. Beyond gold you will find brown and white, and a few pieces in silver, worked across metal, glass and wood. Motifs lean decorative, from blossom and palm to giraffe, elephant, scallop and geometric patterning, so a tray can do quiet, everyday duty or sit out as something to look at.

Choosing trays and stands by use

Think first about what the piece needs to hold. Nesting trays are useful because the smaller one lifts out for a single round of drinks while the larger stays put for serving; a set of two also lets you split duties across two rooms. Single and two-tier buffet stands suit a smaller table or a tighter sideboard, while a large multi-tier stand earns its place at a party, lifting food up off the surface and freeing the table beneath. A mirrored tray on a coffee table is a tidy way to corral candles, a carafe and glasses, while a marble-topped stand handles warm plates and serving bowls.

Care and sizing

Mirrored glass and marble both prefer a soft, dry cloth and a quick wipe rather than a soak; lift rather than drag a loaded tray to protect the surface beneath. Check the footprint against your table or sideboard before ordering, allowing room to set plates around a tiered stand. Free delivery worldwide on all orders over £99.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a decorative tray and a buffet stand?
A decorative tray is a flat, single-level piece for carrying or grouping items on a table, while a buffet stand has one or more raised tiers that lift food up off the surface. Trays suit drinks, candles and everyday tabletop tidying; tiered stands suit grazing boards, cakes and afternoon tea where you want to serve more in a smaller footprint.

Why are some trays sold in sets of two?
Nesting trays come in sets of two so a smaller tray sits inside a larger one when stored. In use, the small tray lifts out for a single round of drinks while the larger one stays put for serving, or you can split the pair across two rooms. The sizes are designed to sit neatly together when not in use.

How do I clean mirrored glass and marble serveware?
Wipe both with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth rather than soaking them. Mirrored glass marks easily with fingerprints, so a gentle buff keeps it clear, while marble is porous and prefers a quick wipe over standing liquid. Lift a loaded tray rather than dragging it to protect the surface underneath.

Can these trays sit out on display rather than just for serving?
Yes. The motifs and antique gold finishes mean a tray works as a decorative piece on a coffee table or sideboard, holding candles, a carafe or a few books. Mirrored tops in particular catch the light and reflect what you set on them, so the tray reads as part of the room rather than something put away after use.

What size tray or stand should I choose?
Match the footprint to where it will live. A single or two-tier stand suits a smaller table or a tighter sideboard, while a large multi-tier stand earns its place when you are serving several people. Measure the clear surface first and leave room to set plates and glasses around the edge of a tiered piece.
