Description

A pair of egg cups turned from mango wood, each 5cm tall and 5cm across. The shape is a plain cup on a short pedestal foot, with the wall left thick enough to feel solid in the hand. The wood is untreated, so the grain and the tone run differently through each one and the surface is smooth rather than sealed.

Five centimetres is the height that holds a hen egg with the top clear for a spoon. A pair covers breakfast for two and goes into a drawer rather than needing shelf space. They are food safe.

The wood is mango, hand turned. Mango is grown first for its fruit and cut for timber only once the trees have stopped bearing. Nothing is applied to the surface, which is why the tone varies between the two in a set.
