Description

The Montrose is a 41cm decorative platter formed from hundreds of individual square aluminium segments, each cast separately then joined to create a shallow bowl shape. The segments vary in size and angle, giving the surface a fractured, geometric texture that catches light differently across the bowl. An antique gold ombre finish coats the aluminium, shading from darker tones at the centre to brighter gold towards the rim.

Designed for decorative use on console tables, coffee tables and dining tables as a centrepiece or display surface for dry arrangements, the platter sits on three low feet that lift it approximately 10mm above the table surface. The feet prevent the base from scratching polished wood and create a slight shadow line beneath the bowl. At 1.7kg the platter has enough weight to sit securely without sliding on smooth surfaces.

Each platter is handcrafted by artisans who position and solder the square segments individually, so the exact pattern of squares differs between pieces. The ombre finish is hand-applied, meaning the gradient from dark to light gold also varies slightly between individual platters. The Montrose collection includes matching vases, photo frames and smaller platters in the same segmented style and gold finish. This platter is for decorative display only and is not food-safe or watertight.

No. The Montrose is for decorative display only and is not food-safe. The aluminium is not treated for food contact and the gaps between the square segments mean liquids would leak through the base.

No. The platter is not watertight. The individual aluminium segments are soldered together but the joins are not sealed. Use it for dry decorative arrangements, candles, or display objects rather than fresh flowers or water features.

Yes. Each platter is handcrafted with the square segments positioned and soldered individually. The exact arrangement of squares and the tonal variation in the gold ombre finish differ between individual pieces.

How is the gold finish maintained?

Wipe gently with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or marks, use a barely-damp microfibre cloth then dry immediately. Avoid household cleaners, polishes or abrasive materials that could strip the ombre finish.
