Description

A shallow ceramic dish 15cm across and 2.5cm deep, glazed cream, with a single row of small indigo drops painted around the rim. The outline is not a true circle: one side is drawn out into a shallow point, and the rim waves a little where it was shaped by hand. Inside, the rings left by the wheel run from the centre out to the wall.

It stands beside the hob for a spoon between stirs, and the 2.5cm wall holds what runs off one before it reaches the worktop. Fifteen centimetres takes a ladle as readily as a teaspoon. On a wooden worktop the cream shows against the wood rather than sinking into it.

The body is ceramic. Each piece is shaped by hand in Vietnam and then painted, so the drops sit at their own spacing on every one and no two rims run the same. Indigo Drop covers the table from dinner and side plates to bowls, jugs, a teapot and a twelve piece set.
