Our Niori designer table lamp range

Our Niori designer table lamps range is designed in-house as a single own-brand line. The range spans bedside lamps for nightstands, desk lamps for studies and home offices, and larger table lamps for living rooms, consoles and sideboards. Pricing sits in the £150–800 bracket, with feature pieces above. Every lamp is own-brand; we do not resell third-party designer table lamps.

Within the range, the design language stays consistent across materials and rooms. Bases sit in brushed brass, matt black, brushed steel and soft white. Shade and column work moves between alabaster, marble, glass and metal. Integrated LED with warm white output is used where the design calls for it; E27 fittings are used where a replaceable lamp suits the form better.

Alabaster, marble and glass: materials we work with

Material mix matters more on table lamps than on most other fixture types, because the lamp sits at eye level and the base is part of the room's surface composition. Alabaster shapes around half of our designer table lamps, with marble the next largest natural-stone group; the remainder works in glass, metal and engineered materials.

Alabaster is the dominant material. It is a slightly translucent natural stone that lets light pass through the lamp body rather than only out of the shade, producing a soft glow with visible veining. For the alabaster-specific sub-range, browse our alabaster table lamps. Marble pieces use the stone as a solid base or column; the veining sits in cooler grey, white and dark green tones. Glass pieces use hand-blown forms or fluted cylinders to diffuse internal light. Metal-bodied lamps sit at the architectural end, with brushed brass and matt black as the standard finishes.

Designer bedside lamps and bedroom lighting

Bedside lamps are the strongest single use case in this range. Customers in the UK, US and Australia search directly for designer bedside lamps to flank the bed in pairs, either matched or visually balanced. A few practical points govern the choice: shade height, light direction and base footprint.

For a standard nightstand height of 55–65cm, a bedside lamp between 45 and 60cm tall reads correctly relative to the seated bed position. The shade's lower edge should sit roughly at eye level when sitting up in bed, which keeps the bulb hidden and directs light onto the page rather than into the eyes. Alabaster bedside lamps work particularly well in this position because the stone glows softly from the body of the lamp itself, giving ambient room light alongside the focused reading light from the shade. Marble bases pair well with linen or pleated shades for a more traditional bedroom register. We supply paired sets on request, with veining matched where possible.

Living room, console and desk lamp placement

Outside the bedroom, our designer table lamps work across three main positions: living room side tables, hallway and entrance consoles, and study or home-office desks.

For living room use, a lamp between 55 and 75cm tall on a side table next to a sofa gives directed light at reading height without dominating the seating area. For console tables in hallways and behind sofas, a pair of matched lamps reads as a deliberate feature; a single tall piece anchors a longer console.

For desk lamps, the choice splits between architectural task pieces with directional shades and softer ambient pieces. Our designer desk lamps tend toward the ambient end; pair them with a dedicated task light for focused workspace use.

Care and cleaning for table lamps

Care varies by material. Alabaster and marble are both natural stones and slightly porous, so they need gentler handling than glass or metal.

For alabaster and marble bases, dust with a dry microfibre cloth; for marks, use a soft cloth dampened with plain water. Avoid soap, alcohol-based cleaners and glass sprays, which can erode the stone's natural finish. For deeper marks, a small amount of pH-neutral stone cleaner removes residue without damaging the stone.

Glass shades can be cleaned with a soft cloth and a mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth. For metal bases, a dry microfibre cloth handles routine dust; avoid abrasive cloths and metal polishes on the finished metalwork. We include care instructions with every piece.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a table lamp 'designer'?

For our range, 'designer' means design-led pieces produced under a single own-brand design language, with consistent material, finish and form choices across the catalogue. Every lamp on this page is designed by us in-house rather than sourced from a third-party brand and resold. The label is about the design provenance and the level of material work, not just the price bracket.

What materials do you use in your designer table lamps?

Around half the range is shaped from natural alabaster, a slightly translucent stone that lets light pass through the body of the lamp. The next largest group works in natural marble, used as a solid base or column. The remainder works in hand-blown or fluted glass, brushed brass, brushed steel and matt black metalwork. We do not use moulded synthetic stone substitutes in this range; the alabaster and marble pieces are real natural stone.

What height should a bedside table lamp be?

For a standard nightstand height of 55–65cm, a bedside lamp between 45 and 60cm tall reads correctly relative to the seated bed position. The lower edge of the shade should sit roughly at eye level when you are sitting up in bed, which keeps the bulb hidden and directs the light onto the page rather than into your eyes. For taller beds or higher nightstands, scale the lamp up proportionally.

Are these lamps suitable for living rooms and desks?

Yes. The range covers living room side-table lamps, console table pieces and home-office desk lamps alongside bedside lamps. For living rooms, a lamp between 55 and 75cm tall on a side table works well next to a sofa or armchair. Our designer desk lamps tend toward the ambient end of the range; for focused task work, pair an ambient desk lamp with a dedicated task light. Each product page lists overall dimensions and recommended use so you can match the lamp to the position.

How do I clean an alabaster or marble table lamp?

For everyday care, dust the surface with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. For marks, use a soft cloth dampened with plain water. Avoid soap, alcohol-based cleaners, glass sprays and abrasive cloths, which can erode the natural finish of alabaster and marble over time. For deeper marks, a pH-neutral stone cleaner applied with a soft cloth removes residue without damaging the stone. Rinse with a damp cloth and dry fully. We include written care instructions with every piece.
