Description
Sunset is a deep-set recessed downlight with a black LED engine that pushes light straight down and keeps the bright part well back from the eyeline. The integral LED draws 30W and runs at 4000K, a cool white that reads clean and crisp rather than cosy, with strong colour rendering so paint, tile and timber hold their proper tone. At 22cm across the face, this is the largest aperture in the Sunset line, and the beam is shaped to lay down a defined pool of light rather than a soft general wash.
We reach for this size where a room needs to be lit properly from a small number of points: over a kitchen island, above a long dining table, down the middle of a hall, or on a stair landing where a hanging fitting would be in the way. It will dim, provided it is wired to a dimmable driver. A driver is not supplied with the engine, and the engine sits inside a matching Sunset recessed base, which is bought separately. Its protection rating keeps it to dry indoor rooms, so not shower zones, not open porches.
The engine is double insulated to Class 2 and finished in black throughout, including the inner cone, which is what keeps glare down and the aperture looking dark when the light is off. Upkeep is minimal: isolate the circuit, let the engine go cold, then take dust off the visible face and the lens with a dry microfibre cloth, no sprays near the optic. It carries a five year warranty. The Sunset bases come in black, gold and white across several apertures, so you can either match the black engine for a recess that disappears, or ring it in gold or white if you want the opening to be seen.

Frequently Asked
How bright is it?
The integral LED gives 2665 lumens at 30W, which is a lot of usable light from one point. It is comfortable at kitchen and hallway ceiling heights and works well as task light over an island or table.
What size opening does it need?
This engine pairs with the Sunset 215 x 152mm recessed base, which has a 200mm cut out. The engine itself measures 215mm across and 152mm deep, and weighs 0.7kg.
Is a driver included?
No. The engine runs at 30W with a 750mA constant current driver, which is ordered separately. If you want the light to dim, the driver must be a dimmable one.
What does 4000K look like in a room?
It is a cool white: bright and neutral, closer to daylight than to the yellow of a traditional bulb. It suits kitchens, utility rooms and working areas. For bedrooms and sitting rooms, most people prefer a warmer temperature.
Can I fit it in a bathroom?
Not within the shower or bath zones. The IP20 rating means it should stay in dry indoor rooms.
How do I keep it clean?
Switch off at the circuit, wait for the engine to cool, then dust the face and lens with a dry cloth. Avoid solvents and do not spray liquid into the aperture.
