Description

Behind a neat run of LED fittings there is usually a small white box doing the quiet work, and this is the one we reach for. It holds the current steady, handles loads up to 30W and responds to ordinary phase-cut, or triac, wall dimming, so the lights fade smoothly rather than step down in jumps. At 127mm long it is slim and low enough to sit tidily out of sight.

We use it most often on domestic downlight and plaster-in schemes, where the fitting itself is meant to disappear into the line of the ceiling and the control gear needs to live somewhere discreet. It suits kitchens, hallways, landings, bedrooms and snugs on a normal household circuit, and it is a sensible choice if you want dimming from a wall plate you already have rather than from an app. Add up the wattage of the fittings you intend to run and keep the total inside the driver's output; where a scheme grows beyond that, we would split the load.

The casing is white, flat sided and unfussy, with a plain finish that stays anonymous wherever it ends up. It asks very little of you: isolate the circuit before any work is done, keep the body free of dust, and an occasional wipe with a dry cloth is all the attention it needs. It is meant for dry interior positions, not exposed or wet ones. It carries a three year warranty. The same range runs to recessed bases in a spread of sizes and in black, gold and white, so the driver, the base and the finish can all be chosen together in one go.
