Our Niori designer ceiling lights range

Our Niori designer ceiling lights range is a focused own-brand line, all designed and produced under one house style. The range sits in the designer and luxury tier: flush mount and semi-flush fixtures for lower-ceiling rooms, semi-recessed pendants for kitchens, and larger ceiling-mounted forms for entrance halls. Price bands run from around £150 through £3,000+, mostly in the £150–£800 range. Every piece is ours; we do not resell third-party ceiling lights.

Modern and contemporary ceiling light designs

Most of our designer ceiling lights read as modern ceiling lights in the working sense of the term: clean architectural lines, flat disc and shallow dome profiles, minimal visible hardware. The contemporary pieces add softer shaping (oval, petal, tiered forms) without moving into traditional decorative territory. Our range covers both modern and contemporary ceiling lights within the same design language, so a flush mount in a hallway reads consistently with a semi-flush in an adjoining bedroom or living room.

Materials: alabaster, metal, glass and crystal

Around two-thirds of our designer ceiling lights are built around natural alabaster shades, with brushed brass, matt black or soft white metalwork holding the stone. The alabaster is real natural stone, not glass or moulded synthetic, so the veining and tonal shifts you see in each piece are part of the material itself. The remaining pieces use solid metal forms, blown glass diffusers or faceted crystal drops. If you want to browse the alabaster-only sub-range directly, see our alabaster ceiling lights range.

Flush mount, semi-flush and pendant ceiling formats

The range covers three working formats. Flush mount fixtures sit tight against the ceiling and suit rooms with lower ceiling heights (typically under 2.4m); these are the US flush mount light category and the UK close-to-ceiling category. Semi-flush fixtures drop a short distance from the ceiling, giving a small amount of visual presence without intruding on headroom. Pendant ceiling lights hang lower and work above dining tables, kitchen islands and stairwells where the fixture is meant to be a focal point. Choose the format by ceiling height first, then by how visible you want the fixture to be in the room.

Care and cleaning for ceiling lights

Care depends on shade material. For alabaster shades, dust gently with a dry microfibre cloth; avoid soap, alcohol-based cleaners and glass sprays, which can erode the natural stone finish. For light marks, a soft cloth dampened with plain water is enough. For glass diffusers, a mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth (not sprayed onto the fixture) handles fingerprints. For brushed brass, matt black and brushed steel metalwork, a dry cloth is sufficient; avoid metal polishes. Isolate the circuit before cleaning and let the fixture cool fully if it has been running.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a ceiling light a designer ceiling light?

A designer ceiling light is defined by its design provenance and aesthetic intent rather than by a single material. In our range, every piece is designed and produced under our own house style, with consistent proportions, finishes and metalwork across the line. That means a designer flush mount in one room reads consistently with a designer pendant or semi-flush in another. We don't apply the label to commodity ceiling fixtures or third-party trade stock.

Do you offer flush mount and semi-flush ceiling lights?

Yes. Our designer ceiling lights range covers flush mount, semi-flush and pendant formats. Flush mount lights sit tight against the ceiling and suit rooms with ceiling heights under about 2.4m, including most bedrooms, hallways and kitchens. Semi-flush fixtures drop a short distance from the ceiling for a little more visual presence. Pendants hang lower and work above dining tables and kitchen islands. Filter the range by format using the filter bar above the product grid.

Which ceiling lights in this range are alabaster?

Around two-thirds of our designer ceiling lights feature natural alabaster as the primary shade material, paired with brushed brass, matt black or soft white metalwork. The remaining pieces use metal, glass or crystal. If you want to see only the alabaster pieces, browse our dedicated alabaster ceiling lights range, which covers the same flush mount, semi-flush and pendant formats.

How do I choose the right ceiling light size for my room?

As a working rule, add the room length and width in metres and use that figure in tens of centimetres as the fixture diameter. A 4m × 5m room (9m total) suits a fixture around 90cm across. For ceiling height, allow at least 2.1m of clearance below the lowest point of the fixture in walkways; over dining tables, pendants typically hang 70–85cm above the table surface. For ceilings under 2.4m, choose flush mount or semi-flush formats rather than drop pendants. Contact us if you'd like specific guidance for a room.
