Description
The Orbis Medium is a 600mm alabaster ring semi-flush ceiling light fixed to the ceiling on three brushed brass cylindrical mounts. The ring itself is cut from natural Spanish alabaster with a solid copper internal frame, and houses an integrated LED running around the inner circumference at 3000K. Light passes outward through the stone rather than down from a central source, turning the entire ring into a warm, glowing band.
As a semi-flush fitting with a 160mm overall height, the Orbis suits rooms with ceilings between 2.2m and 2.7m where a hanging pendant would sit too low. It works well in bedrooms above the foot of the bed, in entrance halls, in home offices, and over circulation areas in open-plan living spaces. The three-point mount distributes the weight of the alabaster across the ceiling rather than loading a single fixing point.
Each ring is cut from natural alabaster, so the veining, cloudy patterning and tonal variation across the 600mm diameter differ between individual pieces. The brushed brass mounts pick up the warmer tones in the stone and pair the fitting with brass ironmongery, taps and hardware elsewhere in a room. The integrated LED removes the need to source a bulb, and the 3000K colour temperature gives a warm white light closer to a tungsten halogen than a cool daylight LED.

Frequently Asked
Is the Orbis suitable for low ceilings?
Yes. As a semi-flush fitting with a 160mm overall projection from the ceiling, it suits rooms with ceiling heights from around 2.2m upwards, where a hanging pendant would intrude too far into the room.
Does it need a bulb?
No. The Orbis uses an integrated LED running inside the alabaster ring, calibrated at 3000K warm white. There is no separate bulb to source or replace.
How is it mounted to the ceiling?
The ring is supported on three brushed brass cylindrical mounts spaced around its circumference, with a single power feed. The three-point fixing spreads the weight of the alabaster across the ceiling rather than loading a single central point.
How is the alabaster cleaned?
Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Alabaster is porous and softer than marble, so avoid household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but do not soak the stone.
