Sockets for every wall in the home

The socket is the hardest-working fitting in any room, so ours are built to last and finished to suit the wall they sit on. We stock single and double plug sockets rated at 13A, in switched and unswitched designs, alongside sockets with built-in USB-A and USB-C ports for charging phones and tablets without an adaptor. Shaver sockets with dual 115V/230V output suit bathrooms, while IP-rated weatherproof sockets handle gardens, garages and outbuildings.

Choosing the right socket

Start with the number of gangs: one-gang for a single outlet, two-gang for the common double, and multi-gang where several appliances share a run. Decide between switched and unswitched, then look at extras such as RCD protection for outdoor circuits, integrated USB, or a rugged metal-clad plate for workshops and utility rooms.

Finishes to match your room

Our finishes run from brushed brass, polished chrome, brushed steel and matt black through to clean white moulded ranges, in both flat-plate and screwless mounting. Every product lists its gang count, amperage and plate style, so you can match a whole room or carry one finish across a full rewire.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a switched and unswitched socket?

A switched socket has a rocker that isolates the outlet without unplugging the appliance, which is handy for kitchen worktops and hard-to-reach spots. An unswitched socket is always live when something is plugged in, and is common behind fixed appliances.

What do the gang numbers mean?

Gangs are the number of outlets on one plate. A one-gang socket has a single outlet, a two-gang has two side by side, and multi-gang plates carry three or more where several devices share a wall.

Can I use these sockets outdoors?

Use a socket with an IP rating of IP66 or similar for outdoor and garden use. These are weatherproof and often fitted with RCD protection. Standard indoor sockets should not be used outside.

What are USB sockets and which type do I need?

USB sockets have charging ports built into the plate, so you can charge devices without a mains adaptor. USB-A suits older cables, while USB-C is faster and fits newer phones and tablets. Many of ours include both.

Will these match my existing sockets and switches?

Each socket lists its finish, plate style and gang count. Pick the same finish and plate style, such as screwless brushed brass, to match sockets and light switches across a room.
