Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang unswitched socket features a smoked bronze screwless faceplate with a black insert. The unswitched configuration provides a permanent live connection suitable for appliances that remain plugged in continuously, such as white goods, server equipment or fixed installations where the power control happens at the appliance itself rather than the wall outlet.
Designed for residential, hospitality and commercial installation, the socket uses a screwless flat plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to a standard 25mm minimum back box. The smoked bronze finish is a warm metallic tone darker than polished brass but lighter than gunmetal, with a subtle sheen that reads as bronze under most lighting conditions. The black insert behind the faceplate conceals the back of the cover plate and defines the outlet aperture.
The socket is manufactured from premium-grade steel and certified to BS 1363-2, handling standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W at 230V. The 4.3mm projection from the wall gives a low-profile finish once installed, and a built-in gasket between the faceplate and wall surface improves the seal against dust ingress. The smoked bronze finish pairs well with warm-toned interiors, industrial aesthetics and heritage restoration projects where darker metallics are specified.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
What does unswitched mean?
Unswitched sockets provide a permanent live connection with no rocker switch to interrupt the power. They are typically used for appliances that remain plugged in continuously, such as fridges, freezers, server equipment or fixed installations where the power control happens at the appliance rather than the wall.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this socket style in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
