Description

The Knightsbridge CU9NL is a 13A 2-gang DP switched socket with an integrated automatic nightlight built into the bottom edge of the faceplate. A photocell sensor activates the nightlight when ambient light drops below 5-15 lux and switches it off when light rises above 20-40 lux, providing hands-free low-level illumination without plug-in nightlights or additional wiring.

Designed for landings, hallways, children's bedrooms and hotel corridors, the socket combines standard 13A power outlets with a soft 55-lumen LED glow at 4000K. The nightlight sits flush at the base of the 7mm contoured white plate, avoiding the visual clutter of plug-in nightlights while maintaining outlet access above. Double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral when turned off, and twin earth terminals provide secure grounding for earthed appliances.

The white thermoset resin plate carries inherent anti-microbial properties across the surface, reducing bacterial growth on high-touch areas around the switches. The rounded edges soften impact in tight corridors and children's rooms. The socket fits a 25-35mm back box depending on cable management, and the 7mm plate projection keeps a low profile on the wall.

Frequently Asked

How does the automatic nightlight work?

A photocell sensor built into the socket monitors ambient light levels. When light drops below 5-15 lux the nightlight activates automatically, and it turns off when light rises above 20-40 lux. No manual switch or timer needed.

How bright is the nightlight?

The integrated LED produces 55 lumens at 4000K, comparable to a soft bedside reading light. It provides enough illumination to navigate a landing or hallway safely at night without disturbing sleep.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum depth is needed for installations with tidy cable management. If the incoming cables are bulkier or the back box is crowded with multiple cable runs, a 35mm box may be required to close the faceplate flush.

Can the nightlight be turned off?

The nightlight is automatic and does not have a manual override switch. If permanent nightlight operation is not wanted, choose the standard CU9000 2-gang socket without the nightlight feature.
