Description

The Knightsbridge shaver socket combines dual voltage shaver charging (115V and 230V) with one USB-A and one USB-C port behind a polished chrome screwless faceplate with a grey insert. The IP41 rating protects against solid objects over 1mm and vertically falling water droplets, making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 where direct spray is not present.

Designed for bathrooms, en-suites and hotel rooms, the socket provides 230V AC at 20VA for electric shavers and toothbrushes plus 5V DC at 2.4A shared output across both USB ports for charging phones, electric razors and small battery-powered devices. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, leaving no visible fixings once installed. The built-in gasket between the plate and wall improves moisture resistance and gives a flush finish against tiles or plasterboard.

The polished chrome finish provides a reflective mirror-like surface that pairs with chrome taps, shower fittings and towel rails in contemporary and traditional bathrooms. The grey insert behind the faceplate conceals the internal mechanism and defines each socket aperture. The 47mm minimum back box depth requirement is deeper than standard sockets due to the internal transformer and USB charging circuitry, so a dedicated shaver box is recommended during new installations or bathroom refits.

What bathroom zones is this suitable for?

The IP41 rating makes this socket suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, where it is protected from direct spray but may encounter moisture and condensation. It cannot be installed in zone 0 (inside the bath or shower enclosure) or zone 1 (directly above the bath to a height of 2.25m).

Does it work with both 115V and 230V shavers?

Yes. The socket provides dual voltage output, so it accepts both 115V and 230V shaver plugs. This is marked on the faceplate as "SHAVERS ONLY" with voltage indicators.

What is the USB charging output?

The USB-A and USB-C ports provide a shared 5V DC output at 2.4A total. If both ports are in use simultaneously, the 2.4A is divided between them. This is sufficient for charging phones, electric toothbrushes and small battery devices, but slower than dedicated fast-charge wall adapters.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed to accommodate the internal transformer and USB circuitry. Standard 25mm or 35mm back boxes used for sockets and switches are too shallow for this fitting.
