Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP switched socket with nightlight adds automatic low-level illumination behind a matt white screwless faceplate with a white insert. A small LED positioned at the base of the socket activates automatically via a photocell sensor when ambient light falls below 5-15 lux, then switches off when light levels rise above 20-40 lux, providing soft 4000K illumination without manual control or plug-in nightlights.
Designed for bedrooms, hallways, staircases and hospitality spaces where socket outlets are needed alongside low-level night-time orientation lighting, the socket combines standard 13A dual-outlet function with the convenience of an integrated auto nightlight. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety for high-draw appliances. The LED draws 0.8W when active and outputs 55 lumens, sufficient to mark the socket location and provide ambient visibility without disrupting sleep.
The matt white finish provides a clean, low-sheen appearance that suits contemporary white and neutral interiors. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, eliminating visible fixings on the wall and giving a flush, uninterrupted finish. The socket fits standard UK back boxes with a minimum depth of 25mm and includes twin earth terminals for wiring flexibility. The premium-grade steel construction ensures durability in high-use residential and commercial installations.

Frequently Asked
How does the nightlight activate?
A built-in photocell sensor monitors ambient light. When room light falls below 5-15 lux, the LED switches on automatically. When light rises above 20-40 lux, the LED switches off. No manual switching or timers are needed.
What colour is the nightlight?
The integrated LED emits 4000K neutral white light at 55 lumens, bright enough to locate the socket and provide low-level visibility without being harsh or disruptive to sleep.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 25mm back box depth is needed, with 25-35mm suitable depending on cable routing and wiring conditions. The socket projects 7mm from the wall once the screwless cover plate is fitted.
Can the nightlight be disabled?
No. The photocell-controlled LED is an integral function of this socket model and activates automatically whenever ambient light drops below the sensor threshold. If a nightlight is not required, select a standard socket without this feature from the Knightsbridge range.
