The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang SP switched socket combines two 13A outlets with dual USB charging ports—one USB-A and one USB-C—behind a pearl finish flat plate with a white insert. The single-pole switching cuts the live line when the socket is switched off, while the USB ports remain powered for continuous device charging. What's the difference between single-pole and double-pole switching?

Single-pole (SP) switching cuts only the live line when the socket is switched off. Double-pole (DP) switching cuts both live and neutral, providing additional isolation for high-draw appliances. For most household use, SP switching is sufficient.

What's the USB charging output?

The dual USB ports share a total output of 5V DC 4.0A. When charging two devices simultaneously, the 4A is divided between them. For fastest single-device charging, use only one USB port at a time.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 25mm back box depth is needed, though 35mm may be required depending on cable arrangement and the number of cables entering the box. The 2.5mm plate projection from the wall is measured after installation.

Is the flat plate screwed to the wall?

No. The flat plate design uses a clip-on faceplate that fixes to a separate metal sub-frame mounted to the back box. This hides the fixing screws behind the plate for a cleaner finish. The built-in gasket seals the plate edge against the wall.
