Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang SP switched socket adds one USB-A and one USB-C charging port behind an antique brass square edge faceplate with a black insert. The single-pole switching disconnects the live line when the socket is switched off, providing control over connected appliances without the need to pull plugs.

Designed for residential, hospitality and office installation, the socket fits a standard 25-35mm back box depth depending on wiring configuration and uses a metal faceplate with a built-in gasket to sit flush against the wall. The square edge design gives a defined 90-degree border around the plate, contrasting with rounded-edge plates in the same range. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet.

The antique brass finish provides a warm, aged metallic accent that pairs well with traditional, period and heritage-style interiors. The black insert behind the brass faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture. What back box depth is required?

A minimum 25mm back box depth is needed for basic installation. In some wiring conditions, such as where additional cables are present or where the socket sits on an external wall, a 35mm back box may be required. The 10.5mm projection from the wall is consistent across both depths.

What's the USB charging output?

The USB-A and USB-C ports share a combined output of 5V DC 4.0A, with a maximum total of 20W across both ports. If both ports are in use simultaneously, the 4.0A is divided between them. The USB-C port supports fast-charge protocols where the connected device allows.

What is single-pole (SP) switching?

Single-pole switching disconnects the live line only when the socket is switched off. The neutral remains connected. This differs from double-pole (DP) switching, which isolates both live and neutral. SP switching is standard for most UK domestic installations and meets wiring regulations for general socket use.
