Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP switched socket incorporates an automatic nightlight positioned at the bottom of the plate, controlled by a photocell sensor that activates in low light and switches off in daylight. The socket fits behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate with a grey insert, providing two 13A outlets with double-pole switching that isolates both live and neutral lines.
Designed for hallways, stairs, children's bedrooms and hotel corridors where low-level orientation lighting is needed after dark, the integrated nightlight removes the need for separate plug-in nightlight devices. The photocell sensor activates the LED below 5-15 lux and deactivates above 20-40 lux, drawing 0.8W when lit and producing 55 lumens at 4000K cool white. The sensor is non-adjustable but calibrated to suit typical UK residential light levels.
The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, giving a clean finish with no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The brushed chrome finish has a directional grain that diffuses reflections, pairing well with contemporary, transitional and commercial interiors. The socket requires a 25-35mm minimum back box depth depending on cable entry position and space needed for connections. Twin earth terminals provide wiring flexibility where circuits are looped through adjacent accessories.

Frequently Asked
How does the nightlight work?
A photocell sensor at the bottom of the plate detects ambient light levels and automatically activates the LED below 5-15 lux, switching it off above 20-40 lux. The sensor is non-adjustable but calibrated for typical UK residential lighting. The nightlight draws 0.8W and produces 55 lumens at 4000K cool white when active.
What back box depth is required?
A 25-35mm minimum back box depth is needed, depending on cable entry position and the space required for terminal connections. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 7mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
Can the screwless plate be removed for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
What other finishes are available in this nightlight socket range?
Knightsbridge produces nightlight sockets in a range of finishes including polished chrome, matt black, white and antique brass. Use the search function or filters at Niori to find other variants in stock.
