Description

The Knightsbridge PM7000N is a 13A 1-gang DP switched socket with a neon indicator, built to meet Building Regulations Part M accessibility requirements. The anthracite thermoset resin faceplate provides an 8.9 Light Reflectance Value (LRV), creating the minimum 30-point contrast against most wall finishes recommended for visually impaired users. A red neon indicator in the rocker switch shows when the socket is live.

Designed for residential, commercial and hospitality installations where accessibility compliance is required, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum mounting box depth. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole designs when disconnecting high-draw appliances. The curved edge profile softens the visual impact against the wall and reduces sharp corners in high-traffic areas.

The thermoset resin construction carries third-party tested anti-microbial properties to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on high-touch surfaces in kitchens and commercial environments. The anthracite finish is darker than matt black, sitting between charcoal grey and true black, and pairs with both light and dark wall finishes while maintaining the required LRV contrast. Knightsbridge backs this socket with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What does Part M compliant mean?

Part M of the Building Regulations sets accessibility standards for electrical fittings. This socket meets those requirements through its high-contrast anthracite finish (8.9 LRV against typical white walls), red neon indicator for power status visibility, and curved edge profile that reduces sharp corners. These features support users with visual impairments or limited dexterity.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum mounting box depth is needed. The socket itself adds 7mm projection from the wall once fitted.

What are the anti-microbial properties?

The thermoset resin construction has been third-party tested to ISO 22196:2011 for anti-microbial performance. This reduces bacterial growth on the faceplate surface, which is useful in kitchens, healthcare settings and other high-touch commercial environments where hygiene matters.

Is the neon indicator always on?

The red neon indicator is illuminated when the socket is switched on and live. It goes dark when the socket is switched off, providing a visual reference for power status without needing to check the rocker position.
