Description
The Knightsbridge MR9000N is a metal clad 13A 2-gang DP switched socket with neon indicators, built into a powder-coated steel enclosure that combines the faceplate and back box into a single 45mm-deep unit. Each switched outlet carries a red neon indicator that illuminates when the switch is in the on position, and the double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off.
Designed for workshops, garages, utility rooms, commercial kitchens and industrial installations where robust surface-mounting is needed over flush-fit installation, the metal clad construction protects the socket from impact, dust and surface moisture. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet. The integral back box removes the need for separate back box installation — the unit surface-mounts directly to masonry, plasterboard or timber substrates using the four fixing points on the enclosure corners.
The powder-coated steel finish provides a durable silver-grey surface that resists scratching, chipping and corrosion better than painted metal. The 82mm height and 142mm width match standard 2-gang dimensions, while the 45mm projection from the wall includes the entire enclosure depth. The captive screw terminals inside the box prevent terminal screws from falling into the enclosure during wiring, and the earth terminal ensures Class I earthing for metal-bodied appliances. Certified to BS 1363-2 and backed by a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
Does this need a separate back box?
No. The metal clad enclosure is an all-in-one unit that combines the faceplate and back box. It surface-mounts directly to the wall using the four corner fixing points, without needing a separate back box installation.
What does the neon indicator show?
Each of the two switches has a red neon indicator that illuminates when the switch is in the on position. This provides a visual confirmation that the outlet is live, which is particularly useful in workshops and garages where appliances may be left plugged in.
Can this be used outdoors?
The IP20 rating means the socket is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It is not weatherproof and should not be installed outdoors or in locations exposed to rain, snow or condensation.
What substrate can it be mounted to?
The metal clad box can be surface-mounted to masonry, plasterboard, timber or steel substrates using appropriate fixings for the material. The four corner screw points accept standard wood screws, wall plugs or self-tapping screws depending on the substrate.
