The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP switched socket integrates an automatic LED nightlight behind an anthracite screwless faceplate with black insert and matching rockers. The nightlight sits at the bottom of the plate, emitting 55 lumens of 4000K neutral white light controlled by a non-adjustable photocell sensor that activates in low-light conditions (below 5-15Lx) and deactivates when ambient light returns (above 20-40Lx).

Designed for landings, corridors, children's bedrooms and hotel hallways where low-level orientation lighting is needed after dark without occupying a socket aperture with a plug-in nightlight. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet.

How does the automatic nightlight work?

The integrated LED activates automatically when ambient light drops below 5-15Lx (typically after dusk or when room lights are turned off) and deactivates when ambient light rises above 20-40Lx (typically at dawn or when room lights are turned on). The photocell sensor is non-adjustable and operates without user input.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for standard installations. Installations with heavy-gauge wiring or multiple cable runs may require up to 35mm depth. The screwless cover plate adds 7mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Can the nightlight be switched off?

No. The nightlight operates automatically based on ambient light levels and cannot be manually disabled. The photocell sensor is factory-calibrated and non-adjustable.
