Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang unswitched floor socket provides two standard UK outlets behind a spring-loaded matt black cover that sits flush with the floor when closed. The socket is designed for in-floor installation where surface-level power access is needed without the visual clutter of trailing cables or raised boxes.
Typical applications include hotel rooms, conference facilities, open-plan offices, meeting rooms, kitchens with island units, and exhibition spaces where power needs to be accessible in the centre of a floor area without permanent fixtures. The spring-loaded cover returns to the closed position when not in use, protecting the outlets from dust, spills and foot traffic. The 3mm projection above floor level when closed minimises trip hazards while keeping the socket accessible.
The matt black finish on the premium-grade steel construction provides a low-sheen surface that reduces fingerprint visibility and pairs cleanly with dark timber floors, polished concrete, carpet tiles and vinyl. The socket is rated IP20 for indoor use and requires a 35mm minimum back box depth for installation. At 144mm × 94.5mm the footprint is compact enough to fit between floor joists in most residential and commercial builds. The unswitched design means power is live to both outlets whenever the circuit is energised, which is standard for floor sockets where the spring cover acts as the primary barrier.

Frequently Asked
What floor covering can this be fitted into?
The socket is designed for installation into timber subfloors, raised access floors and screed bases. It requires a 35mm back box recessed below the finished floor surface, with the socket then sitting 3mm proud. Suitable for timber, carpet, vinyl and polished concrete finishes where the 144mm × 94.5mm cutout can be accommodated.
Is the socket switched or unswitched?
This is an unswitched socket, meaning power is live to both outlets whenever the circuit is energised. The spring-loaded cover acts as the primary barrier when the socket is not in use. If individual outlet switching is required, Knightsbridge produces a switched variant in this same range.
Can it be used in bathrooms or wet areas?
No. The IP20 rating means the socket is suitable for dry indoor environments only. It is not rated for use in bathrooms, kitchens with floor-level wet zones, or outdoor areas.
How does the spring-loaded cover work?
Press the cover and it lifts to reveal the two outlets. When you remove the plugs, the cover returns to the closed position under spring tension, sitting flush with the floor and protecting the outlets from dust and debris.
