Description

The Knightsbridge SF8909PCW is a 230V shaver socket with integrated USB-A and USB-C charging ports (5V DC 2.4A shared output), behind a polished chrome screwless faceplate with a white insert. The socket provides a single-voltage 230VAC 20VA output for electric shavers and toothbrushes, certified to EN 61558 for bathroom safety.

Designed specifically for bathroom installation, the socket carries an IP41 rating for protection against water droplets and solid objects over 1mm. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame and features a built-in gasket to seal the edges against moisture ingress. The 87.5mm width and 147.5mm height fit standard UK bathroom zones, with a 47mm minimum back box depth required for safe installation.

The polished chrome finish provides a reflective metallic surface that pairs well with chrome taps, towel rails and shower fittings in contemporary and traditional bathrooms. The white insert behind the chrome faceplate conceals the back of the cover plate and provides contrast around the shaver outlet and USB ports. The dual USB configuration supports simultaneous charging of modern USB-C devices (phones, tablets) and older USB-A cables, with the 2.4A output shared across both ports.

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed. The socket has a 45mm recessed depth plus the screwless cover plate which adds approximately 4.3mm of wall projection once fitted.

Yes. The socket carries an IP41 rating for protection against water droplets and solid objects, and is certified to EN 61558 for bathroom installations. It should be installed in accordance with current IET Wiring Regulations and local building codes.

What's the USB charging output?

The dual USB ports provide 5V DC at 2.4A shared output. This means the 2.4A current is split between the USB-A and USB-C ports when both are in use simultaneously.

Can it charge modern phones and tablets?

Yes. The USB-C port supports modern devices using USB-C cables, while the USB-A port remains compatible with older devices. The 2.4A shared output is suitable for overnight charging of phones and small tablets, though it will not support the fastest rapid-charge protocols available on some newer devices.
