This Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang SP switched socket combines two standard UK 13A outlets with one USB-A and one USB-C charging port, all housed in a powder-coated grey metal clad box. The single-pole switching isolates the live line when the socket is switched off, while the USB ports remain live for continuous charging. The entire unit is supplied with an integral back box, requiring only cable entry and fixing to the mounting surface.

Designed for garages, workshops, industrial units, commercial kitchens and outdoor covered areas, the metal clad housing provides mechanical protection against impacts and knocks that would damage standard domestic faceplates. The IP20 rating means the socket is suitable for dry indoor environments and covered outdoor locations, but not for direct exposure to rain or water ingress. Cable entry is from the sides or top of the box only — this model does not support central conduit entry from the base.

The powder-coated grey finish on premium grade steel resists scratching and corrosion better than painted surfaces, while the urea switches provide heat resistance and durability under repeated use. The 45mm projection from the wall gives clearance for USB cable connections without blocking adjacent sockets in multi-gang installations. The shared 5V 2.4A USB output charges phones, tablets and small devices, with the USB-C port supporting newer cables and devices alongside the legacy USB-A port.

Does this need a separate back box?

No. The metal clad housing is supplied with an integral back box as a complete unit. You fix the entire assembly to the wall or mounting surface and connect the cable directly into the terminals inside the box.

What's the USB charging output?

The dual USB ports share a combined 5V DC 2.4A output. This is sufficient for charging phones, tablets and small portable devices. Use certified USB cables to ensure compatibility and safe charging.

Can I use this outdoors?

The IP20 rating means the socket is suitable for dry indoor environments and covered outdoor areas such as porches or under eaves. It is not weatherproof and must not be exposed to direct rain, splashes or moisture ingress.

Where can the cable enter the box?

Cable entry is from the sides or top of the metal clad box. This model does not support central conduit entry from the base, so plan your cable routing accordingly during installation.
