Finding your way into our lighting range

Lighting is a big subject, and there is no single right way to browse it. That is why we have built several routes into the range, each suited to a different starting point. If you already know the fitting you want, you can go straight to it by type. If you are lighting a particular space and want to see everything that suits it, you can browse by room. If you are matching a look across your home, you can browse by style. And if you are working around metalwork you already own, you can browse by finish and material. The four routes cover the same products from different angles, so the best one to pick is simply the one that matches how you are already thinking about the job.

Alongside these four browse routes sit our own ranges and a set of ranges defined by where or how the lighting works. Those are covered further down. For now, the point is that you do not have to know everything before you begin. Pick the route that answers the question already in your head, and the rest of the choices become easier.

Browsing by fitting type

By Type is the route to take when you already know the shape of thing you are after. If the plan is a pendant over the table, a flush fitting for a low hallway, or a chandelier for the stairwell, this route takes you straight there without wading through anything else. It gathers Ceiling Lights, Flush Ceiling Lights, Pendant Lights, Cluster Pendant Lights, Linear Lighting, Chandeliers, Semi-flush Ceiling Lights, Ceiling Fan Lights and more, each in its own sub-range.

This is the most direct route when the decision is already half made. You are not asking what would suit the room or what matches your scheme, because you have settled that. You just want to see the options within one kind of fitting and compare them side by side. If instead you are still working out what a space needs, one of the other routes will serve you better.

Browsing by room

By Room is the route for lighting a whole space rather than filling a single spot. When you browse a room, you see every kind of fitting that belongs there together, so a kitchen brings up Kitchen Lights, Kitchen Ceiling Lights, Kitchen Island Lighting, Kitchen Pendant Lights and Kitchen Chandeliers in one place, and a bathroom gathers Bathroom Lights, Bathroom Ceiling Lights and Bathroom Wall Lights the same way.

This route beats By Type when you are thinking about a space as a whole, because most rooms need more than one kind of light working together. A ceiling fitting, a pair of wall lights and a lamp can all be considered from one page, and everything shown has already been grouped for the demands of that room. If you are planning the lighting for a room from scratch, start here and let the room tell you what it needs.

Browsing by style

By Style is the route for carrying a single look from room to room. If you have settled on a modern feel, or a traditional one, and you want the whole house to hold that line, this route lets you follow it across fittings. It gathers ranges such as Modern Chandeliers, Modern Pendant Lights, Modern Ceiling Lights, Modern Track Lighting, Modern Wall Lights, Modern Floor Lamps and Modern Table Lamps, along with their traditional counterparts, so a style runs across every kind of fitting at once.

This matters because consistency of look is easy to lose when you shop fitting by fitting. Browsing by style keeps the thread intact, letting you pick a ceiling light in one room and a matching table lamp in another without either falling out of step. If the look is what ties your choices together, this is the route that keeps it front of mind.

Browsing by finish and material

By Finish & Material is the route for matching what is already in the room. When you have brass door handles, black window frames or a particular metalwork already fitted, the finish becomes the thing you are matching to, and this route lets you lead with it. It gathers ranges such as Antique Brass Wall Lights, Black Ceiling Lights, Black Chandeliers, Black Pendant Lights, Black Wall Lights, Brass Ceiling Lights, Brass Chandeliers and Brass Flush Ceiling Lights.

Pick this route when the finish is fixed and everything else is flexible. Rather than choosing a fitting first and hoping it comes in the right tone, you start from the tone and see only what already matches. It is the quickest way to keep hardware consistent across a room when the metalwork is the anchor point.

Our own ranges

Alabaster Lighting and Designer Lighting are ranges rather than routes. They are not another way of slicing the whole catalogue but bodies of work in their own right. Alabaster Lighting draws on the soft, warm quality of the stone, and covers Alabaster Chandeliers, Alabaster Wall Lights, Alabaster Pendant Lighting, Alabaster Table Lamps, Alabaster Ceiling Lights, Alabaster Floor Lamps and Alabaster Mirrors. Ranges defined by where or how they work

Outdoor Lights, LED Strip Lights, Track Lighting and Commercial sit apart from the browse routes because they are neither facets nor styles. They are defined by where they work or by the system they belong to. Outdoor Lights covers fittings built for the weather, including Outdoor Ceiling Lights, Outdoor Chandeliers, Outdoor Downlights, Outdoor Floor Lamps, Outdoor Ground Lights, Outdoor Pendant Lights and Outdoor Spotlights. Commercial gathers the fittings a working space needs, from Batten Lights and Bulkhead Lights to Emergency Lighting, Fire Exit Signs and High Bay Lighting.

Track Lighting and LED Strip Lights are defined by their system rather than their setting. Track Lighting covers Track Spotlights, Track Pendant Lights, Track Ceiling Lights, Magnetic Track Wall Lights and Track Kits, all working from a shared track. Accessories, and finishing a job

Accessories is the range to come back for once the main fittings are chosen. It holds the parts that complete a job and the ones you reach for later, including Lamp Shades, Lighting Canopies, Ceiling Roses & Hooks, Light Bulb Adaptors, Lamp Holders, Fabric Lighting Cable and Downlight Bezels.

These are the small pieces that make everything else work as intended, whether you are dressing a fitting with a new shade or tidying a cable run. Keep this range in mind at the end of a project, when the lights are settled and it is the finishing details that remain.
