The Basic Form is a 20cm globe pendant light combining a frosted white glass sphere with a matt black metal canopy and adjustable cable suspension. The frosted glass diffuses light evenly in all directions, creating ambient illumination rather than focused task light. The fitting takes a single E14 bulb up to 40W, sold separately.

Designed for kitchens, dining areas, hallways and bedrooms with standard ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the pendant hangs from an adjustable cable allowing drop heights between 40cm and 222.5cm from the ceiling rose. For installation over a dining table or kitchen island the pendant typically sits 70-80cm above the surface. The 20cm globe diameter suits rooms between 8-15m², providing sufficient ambient light when paired with a suitable bulb without overwhelming smaller spaces.

The matt black metal frame and cable provide a clean contrast to the frosted white glass, pairing comfortably with monochrome, Scandi and industrial-leaning interiors. Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The cable length is set during installation and can be shortened by looping excess cable inside the ceiling rose. Adjusting the drop after installation requires accessing the ceiling rose again to shorten or lengthen the visible cable run.

Is it suitable for bathroom use?

No. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only. For bathrooms an IP44-rated pendant would be required to meet UK Building Regulations for zones 1 and 2.

How many pendants are needed over a kitchen island?

For a typical 1.8-2.4m kitchen island, two or three Basic Form pendants spaced 60-80cm apart provide balanced ambient light. For islands longer than 2.4m, consider three or four pendants to avoid dark patches between fixtures.
