Description

The Basic Form is a 3-light cluster pendant from Maytoni pairing three opal glass globes with gold-finish metal stems suspended from a 40cm circular ceiling plate. Each globe houses an E14 bulb (sold separately) and the opal glass diffuses direct light into a soft ambient glow. The three pendants hang at staggered heights on adjustable cables, allowing the cluster to be configured between a minimum 52.5cm drop and a maximum 222.5cm drop depending on ceiling height and the intended position above furniture.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and central living room positions, the Basic Form works in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. The staggered drop creates visual interest without the rigid symmetry of a single-tier chandelier, and the cluster footprint of approximately 40cm suits tables 1.2-1.8m long. The gold finish on the stems and ceiling plate provides warmth against the white opal glass and pairs comfortably with brass hardware, warm-toned timber and neutral-coloured walls in mid-century, contemporary and transitional interiors.

Each opal glass globe is approximately 15-20cm in diameter based on the visible proportions in the image, creating a substantial presence without dominating the room. The metal construction and IP20 rating make this suitable for dry indoor use only. The adjustable drop is set during installation by shortening the cable run inside the ceiling plate, so the final configuration should be planned before fitting. The E14 base accepts standard small Edison screw LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 40W per socket.

The Basic Form takes three E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for ambient dining or living room lighting.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The drop is adjusted during installation by shortening the cable run inside the ceiling plate. Once the ceiling plate is fixed and the cables are cut to length, the drop cannot be changed without re-fitting. Plan the final drop height before installation.

What ceiling height is needed?

The pendant works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. For a dining table the cluster typically sits 700-900mm above the table surface, which requires a ceiling height of at least 2.4m when using the minimum 52.5cm drop. Higher ceilings can use the full 222.5cm drop for a more dramatic staggered effect.

Is it suitable for bathrooms or outdoor use?

No. The IP20 rating means the pendant is suitable for dry indoor use only. It is not rated for bathrooms, kitchens with direct water splash, or outdoor installation.
