Description

The Zip is an industrial wall light built around a single burnished copper lampholder with an exposed E27 bulb fitting, suspended on a short black fabric cable from a copper wall plate. The copper metalwork shows a brushed finish with natural tonal variation, and the lampholder features machined ridges at the top and base that reference early 20th-century electrical fittings.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, and living room accent lighting, the Zip sits 210mm from the wall when mounted and casts light in all directions from the exposed bulb. The short cable drop positions the bulb just below eye level on a standard 2.4m-ceiling wall, making it suitable for corridor runs, bedside positions, and above console tables or sideboards. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only.

The burnished copper develops a richer patina over time as the metal oxidises naturally, darkening slightly and gaining character. The 90mm-diameter wall plate gives sufficient backing for the lampholder assembly without dominating the wall, and the black fabric cable contrasts cleanly with the warm copper tone. The fitting accepts any E27 LED, halogen or decorative filament bulb up to 60W (sold separately), and is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer and dimmable bulb.

What bulb does it take?

The Zip takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to complement the copper finish and industrial aesthetic.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, the fitting itself is dimmable. You will need both a compatible dimmer switch and a dimmable E27 bulb to achieve dimming functionality. Not all LED bulbs dim smoothly, so check bulb specifications before purchasing.

Can it be used outdoors or in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the Zip is designed for dry indoor use only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor installations, or any location where it may be exposed to moisture or splashing.

Does the copper tarnish over time?

Yes. Burnished copper oxidises naturally and will develop a darker, richer patina over months and years of use. This is a characteristic of the material. To maintain the original burnished tone, the copper can be polished occasionally with a soft cloth and copper cleaner, but many users prefer the aged look.
