Description
The Zeil is a 3 light flush ceiling fitting with a bronze-finished metal frame surrounding an octagonal lantern of clear bevelled glass panels. Each of the three E27 sockets sits inside the glass enclosure, with the bevelled edges creating small prisms that refract light across the ceiling and walls when bulbs are fitted. The fitting sits 19.2cm deep from the ceiling surface, making it suitable for rooms with lower ceiling heights where a pendant would hang too far.
Designed for hallways, bedrooms, low-ceilinged living rooms and covered porches, the Zeil pairs ambient light distribution with a decorative glass structure that adds visual interest to what would otherwise be a plain ceiling surface. The IP43 rating provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and spray water at angles up to 60 degrees from vertical, making the fitting suitable for covered outdoor areas and bathrooms outside direct shower zones. The 35.2cm width gives presence without dominating smaller rooms.
The bronze finish on the metal frame and the octagonal glass lantern reference traditional carriage lamp and Victorian porch light design, fitting classical, country and period-style interiors. The clear bevelled glass keeps the fixture visually light despite the solid metal frame, and the geometric structure of the glass panels creates defined shadow lines on ceilings during evening use. Each E27 socket accepts up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or filament bulbs depending on preferred light quality and running cost.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Zeil take?
The fitting takes three E27 Edison screw bulbs, each up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are not included. Most users fit warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K for living spaces, or daylight-temperature LEDs for hallways and utility areas.
Is it suitable for low ceilings?
Yes. The 19.2cm projection from ceiling to base makes the Zeil suitable for rooms with standard UK ceiling heights of 2.3-2.4m where a pendant would hang too low and create headroom issues.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
The IP43 rating provides splash protection, making the Zeil suitable for bathrooms outside zones 0, 1 and 2. It can be installed above 2.25m from the bath or shower tray, or in areas not subject to direct spray. It is not suitable for installation directly above a bath or inside a shower enclosure.
How is the glass cleaned?
The glass panels are accessible by removing the lower glass section (refer to the manual for disassembly). Clean with a soft cloth and glass cleaner, avoiding harsh abrasives that could scratch the bevelled edges. Ensure the fitting is switched off and cool before handling.
