Description

The Wrenfield is a large inverted pendant in Tiffany-style leaded glass, with the shade set open side up so light washes over the ceiling before it settles into the room. The glass bowl measures 450mm across and the overall drop adjusts anywhere between 600mm and 1000mm, so this ceiling light can sit high above a table or hang lower into a stairwell. Three E27 lampholders are held inside the bowl, each taking an LED bulb of up to 10W, and the finished fitting weighs 2.9kg. Bulbs are not included, so the warmth and brightness are yours to choose.

An inverted shade throws softer, more even light than a downward one, which makes the Wrenfield a sensible pendant light above a dining table, in a sitting room with a period fireplace, or over a landing where you want light spread rather than pooled. It suits houses with traditional or Arts and Crafts leanings, and it holds its own as a single warm accent in a plainer modern room. The adjustable drop copes with ordinary ceiling heights and taller Victorian rooms alike, and the IP20 rating keeps it to dry indoor spaces.

Coloured glass is set within soldered metal seams, and the multicoloured panels shift in tone through the day depending on how much daylight sits behind them. Dust the outside with a dry soft cloth or a clean brush, then lift any marks with a barely damp cloth and dry straight away. Avoid sprays and abrasive creams, which dull both glass and metal over time. It is a Class 1 fitting, so it needs an earthed supply at the ceiling, and it dims with a compatible switch and dimmable bulbs. A Wrenfield semi flush covers lower ceilings in the same range.
