Description

The Wrenfield semi flush keeps the leaded glass of the pendant but brings it close to the ceiling, projecting just 315mm below it across a 450mm width. That makes it a Tiffany-style ceiling light for rooms where a hanging shade would be in the way. Three E27 lampholders sit within the shade, each taking an LED bulb of up to 10W, and the fitting weighs 2.5kg. Bulbs are not included. The short drop still leaves a little air between shade and ceiling, so the light softens rather than flattening out.

This is the fitting for bedrooms, landings, hallways and any sitting room with a ceiling under about two and a half metres. A semi flush mount gives you the character of leaded glass without the head height problem, which is why it works so well in cottages, dormer rooms and converted lofts. The multicoloured glass suits period houses and keeps its warmth in a plain modern room. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor spaces, so it is not one for bathrooms or covered porches.

Coloured glass is set into soldered metal seams and carried on a metal frame, and the panels change tone as daylight moves round the room. Dust with a dry soft cloth, lift any marks with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately, and keep sprays and abrasive creams away from the seams. The fitting is Class 1 and needs an earthed supply at the ceiling, and it dims with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulbs. If your ceilings allow more height, the Wrenfield large inverted pendant is the fuller version of the same range.
