Description

The Windermere is a 2-light wrought iron wall light with a rust/gold patina finish, handcrafted in the UK by Elstead Lighting. Two curved arms extend from a central circular backplate, each terminating in a candle-style holder with a brass-toned detail at the base of the holder and a brass-wrapped junction where the decorative scrollwork meets the central spine. The fitting takes two E14 candle bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately).

Designed for dining rooms, hallways and living rooms needing traditional wall lighting, the Windermere provides ambient light at approximately 1.5-1.8m above floor level when mounted between waist and head height. The 337mm width makes it suitable for walls with 500mm or more of clear space, and the 160mm projection means it sits comfortably on walls without dominating narrow corridors. The dual-arm design provides more light output than a single-candle wall light while retaining the traditional wrought iron aesthetic.

The rust/gold patina is applied by hand during manufacture, giving each piece slight tonal variation between the darker oxide base and the warmer brass highlights on the wrapped details and scrollwork. The wrought iron construction gives the fitting a solid 1.2kg weight, and the hand-finished metalwork means decorative curves and scroll tips show slight irregularity characteristic of traditional forging rather than machine-pressed uniformity. The backplate mounts to a standard UK electrical backbox with concealed fixings.

The Windermere takes two E14 small Edison screw candle bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional flame-style glow.

No. The rust/gold patina is applied by hand during manufacture, so each fitting shows slight tonal variation between the darker oxide base and the warmer brass highlights. This is a feature of the hand-finishing process, not a defect.

What wall clearance is needed?

The fitting projects 160mm from the wall once mounted. On narrower hallways or corridors, check that the 160mm projection plus the 337mm width will not obstruct the passage or interfere with door swings.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The Windermere carries no IP rating and is designed for dry interior locations only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor use.
