Description

The Winchfield is a 445mm picture light with an aged brass frame and matt black cylindrical shade housing two E14 bulbs. The shade projects 318mm from the wall on an adjustable brass arm that pivots at the wall plate, allowing the light to be angled towards the artwork or mirror it illuminates.

Designed for placement above framed artwork, mirrors, or feature walls in hallways, dining rooms and living spaces, the Winchfield directs focused light downward and forward to reduce glare on glass-fronted frames. The aged brass finish carries a naturally darkened patina that pairs with warm-toned interiors, traditional settings, and period features, while the matt black shade provides tonal contrast and conceals the bulb holders when viewed from below.

The steel frame construction gives the fitting a substantial presence without overwhelming artwork in the 600-900mm width range. The dual E14 bulb configuration spreads light more evenly across wider frames than single-bulb picture lights, reducing shadowing at the edges. The wall plate measures approximately 127mm tall and fits standard UK back boxes, with the arm extending the full 318mm projection when angled forward.

What bulbs does it take?

The Winchfield takes two E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs up to 40W total output. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 3-5W each and 2700K colour temperature for artwork lighting.

Can the angle be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The brass arm pivots at the wall plate joint, allowing the shade and light direction to be angled towards the artwork. This adjustment can be made after installation without removing the fitting from the wall.

Does the aged brass finish tarnish further over time?

Aged brass carries a factory-applied darkened patina that replicates natural tarnishing. In typical indoor conditions the finish remains stable. If further darkening occurs it can be cleaned with a soft brass polish, or left to develop additional patina depending on preference.
