Description

Sold as a frame only, this is one for anyone who would rather choose the shade themselves. The body is a compact satin nickel cylinder, 11cm across, a soft brushed grey without the mirror glare of chrome, and it takes an E27 lamp. The flex runs to a generous 5m, so the fitting can sit tucked up close to the ceiling or hang deep into a tall room. It is a plain, honest thing: ceiling cup, flex, holder, and the shade left to you.

We would use it over a kitchen island or down the length of a dining table, where a line of narrow pendants reads better than one broad shade. It also earns its keep in a stairwell or a double-height hall, where most pendants stop short. Bedside, they free the tables of clutter. It suits anyone who has already settled on a shade, or who likes the idea of changing the shade later and keeping the fitting. Dimming is possible where the lamp and the dimmer switch are both up to it, though neither comes with the pendant.

Body, cup and holder are finished in satin nickel throughout, and the pendant is double insulated. Keep the lamp modest, as the holder is rated to 20W; an LED of that size gives plenty of light through most shades. For cleaning, a dry cloth over the metal is enough, and nothing damp should go near the flex or the holder. It carries a one year warranty. The same slim body runs through the range in antique brass, antique copper, aged pewter and black chrome, and in a G9 version for smaller capsule lamps, so pendants can share a shape while the finishes differ. Lamps are not included.
