Description

A small brass gold body, barely 11cm across, hung on a long flex and supplied as a frame so the shade is yours to choose. The lampholder takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and the drop can be set anywhere along a flex that runs to a full 5m, which makes it as useful over a low breakfast bar as it is falling into a tall stairwell void. It will dim, given a dimmable lamp and a matching dimmer, though neither of those comes with it. The shade and the lamp are not included; see our lamp shades.

It is one we reach for where the shade is doing the talking: a wide linen drum over a dining table, a blown glass globe above an island, a narrow metal cone beside a bed. Because the body is so compact it more or less vanishes once a shade is on, leaving the flex and the ceiling cup as the only metal on show. That makes it a sensible choice if you already own a shade you like, or if you want a short run of pendants along a worktop without the hardware competing for attention.

The finish is a warm brass gold that sits happily with oak, cane and unlacquered kitchen brassware, and the fitting is double insulated. An occasional dust and a dry wipe is all the metal asks for; skip the metal polishes and abrasive creams, which will scour the tone away. It carries a one year warranty. The same body runs right through the range in other finishes, and we stock it in antique brass, antique copper, aged pewter and black chrome alongside this one, plus a G9 version for anyone wanting a smaller capsule lamp.
