Description

The Wexford is a 340mm traditional outdoor chain pendant with a rectangular lantern body finished in black and silver. Each of the four glass panels is assembled from five individual pieces of clear rippled glass, hand-leaded together in a diamond lattice pattern that diffuses light and creates texture across the surface. A single E27 bulb inside the lantern (sold separately) casts light through the leaded glass in all directions.

Designed for covered outdoor spaces such as front porches, rear verandas, courtyard entrances and garden pergolas, the Wexford carries an IP23 rating that protects against vertically falling water droplets. The 490mm chain allows the drop to be adjusted between 460mm minimum and 900mm maximum during installation, so the lantern can be positioned to clear head height under a porch canopy or set lower under higher pergola beams. The chain conceals the cable and suspends from a standard ceiling rose.

The black metalwork paired with silver detailing suits traditional, Victorian and Edwardian-style properties where period character is retained or restored. The rippled glass reduces glare from the bulb while maintaining visible light output across the lantern face, so the fitting provides both functional illumination and decorative presence after dark. At 159mm width the lantern fits comfortably in entrance porches without overwhelming narrower doorways.

Can this be used in an open porch exposed to rain?

The IP23 rating protects against vertically falling water droplets and light rain at angles up to 15° from vertical. It is suitable for covered porches and verandas where most rain is deflected by a roof or canopy overhead. The fitting is not rated for fully exposed positions where driving rain hits the lantern directly.

What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to suit the traditional aesthetic.

Is the chain length adjustable?

Yes. The 490mm chain can be shortened during installation by removing links, allowing the minimum drop to be set at 460mm or the maximum at 900mm depending on ceiling height and clearance requirements.

How is the leaded glass cleaned?

Wipe the glass panels with a soft damp cloth. The leaded joints between glass pieces should not be scrubbed aggressively as this can loosen the lead over time. Avoid abrasive cleaners or high-pressure water sprays.
