Description
The Viren is a 450mm alabaster table lamp built around a tapered column of natural Spanish alabaster, capped with a brushed bronze dome shade and a small bronze ring finial at the apex. Two E27 lamp holders sit beneath the dome (bulbs sold separately), throwing light downwards onto the alabaster base, which glows from within when illuminated.
The 300mm-diameter dome shade and 450mm overall height give the Viren a compact mushroom silhouette that suits bedside tables, console tables in entrance halls, and side tables flanking a sofa. The downward-facing dome directs light onto the alabaster rather than into the eye, making it comfortable to sit beside as evening reading or ambient lighting. Twin E27 fittings allow brighter combined output than a single-bulb lamp of the same size.
Each alabaster column is cut from a single block of natural Spanish stone, so the cloudy white veining, warm honey patches and translucent zones differ between individual pieces. The tapered cone profile widens from the top of the column to a stable base, balancing the visual weight of the bronze dome above. The brushed bronze finish on the solid copper shade reads as a warm, low-sheen gold tone that pairs comfortably with cream, walnut and deeper jewel-toned interiors.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Viren take?
The lamp takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-8W and 2700K-3000K to complement the warm tone of the alabaster and bronze.
Are the alabaster columns identical?
No. Each column is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, honey-toned patches and translucent zones differ between pieces. Variation in pattern and tone is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect.
Where does the light fall?
The brushed bronze dome directs light downwards onto the alabaster column, which then diffuses a warm ambient glow into the surrounding space. The dome itself shields the bulbs from direct view at seated height, making the lamp comfortable as bedside or sofa-side lighting.
How is the alabaster cleaned?
Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners, which can stain or etch the surface of the stone.
