Description
The Virello is a 500mm alabaster table lamp built from two pieces of natural Spanish alabaster: a tapered column base and a cylindrical shade above it, joined by a square brass clasp. Three G9 lamp sockets sit inside the shade and cast light outward through the stone, while the column base picks up secondary glow from above. The brass plinth at the foot and the brass trim at the top and bottom of the shade frame the alabaster without competing with it.
Sized for sideboards, console tables, bedside tables and lounge end-tables, the Virello suits living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and reading corners where a compact ambient light is wanted rather than a tall directional lamp. The 350mm shade diameter gives a wide spread of soft light at seated eye level, making it suitable beside a sofa or armchair where overhead lighting feels too harsh in the evening.
Each piece of alabaster is cut from natural Spanish stone, so the milky veining and tonal drift across the shade and column differ between individual lamps. When the G9 bulbs are on, the veining inside the shade becomes more pronounced, reading almost like drifting cloud across the stone. When off, the alabaster reads as a soft matt white. The solid copper internal frame supports the stone elements and gives the lamp its 500mm x 350mm proportions.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Virello take?
The lamp takes three G9 capsule bulbs, fitted inside the alabaster shade. Bulbs are sold separately. A warm white G9 LED at 2700K-3000K, around 3-4W per bulb, suits the alabaster best and avoids overpowering the stone.
Does each lamp look the same?
No. Both the cylindrical shade and the tapered column are cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining patterns, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual lamps. This is a feature of the natural stone.
Where does the Virello work best?
The 500mm height and 350mm shade diameter suit sideboards, console tables, larger bedside tables and lounge end-tables. It functions as ambient lighting rather than a reading lamp, so works well beside a sofa or armchair as a softer alternative to overhead light in the evening.
How is the alabaster cleaned?
Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid household sprays, polishes, chemical cleaners and damp cloths soaked with tap water, as these can mark the surface of the stone.
