Description

The Virello is a 420mm alabaster table lamp built around a tapered column of natural Spanish alabaster topped with a cylindrical alabaster drum shade. A square brass tab joins shade to base at the front, and a slim brass band wraps the underside of the shade and the foot of the column, framing the stone with two narrow lines of warm metal. Three G9 sockets sit inside the shade.

Sized for bedside tables, console tables, sideboards and study desks, the lamp works as ambient and accent lighting rather than focused task light. The 300mm shade diameter gives a broad, low-glare wash from a 420mm overall height, so the lamp sits comfortably on furniture between 700-800mm high without dominating the surface. The three G9 sockets share the load, allowing lower-wattage bulbs to be used while still producing a usable level of light.

Both the column and the shade are cut from natural alabaster, so each lamp shows different mineral veining and tonal variation. When lit, the stone itself becomes the diffuser: light passes through the shade walls and glows softly down the column, picking out the veining in both pieces. The brass detailing is kept deliberately minimal, two thin bands and a single square fixing, which lets the alabaster do the visual work.
